Felt lubricating gears have been a common solution for lubricating open gears on pinions, racks or slewing rings for around 100 years. Felt gears from STW have always been made from particularly high-quality and therefore wear-resistant felt material. It is 100% of natural origin. Genuine sheep’s wool makes up the largest proportion, and its properties are further improved by felting it with other natural fibers.

A complete lubrication system for lubricating gearing should consist of the following components:
Lubricant supply:
The lubricant supply should preferably be an automatic central lubrication system or a manual hand lever press (possibly supplemented by a central lubrication strip or a progressive distributor).
The lubrication gear is connected to the lubricant supply via high-pressure lines (usually STW-PA high-pressure lines, which can be installed in a particularly time-saving and uncomplicated manner using suitable high-pressure push-in fittings).
Connected to the axle of the lubricating gearwheel, the grease is fed through the axle into the channels of the felt gearwheel. It emerges from these channels at the surface of the lubricating gear and is distributed evenly in the felt structure to the tooth flank of the toothing to be lubricated.
