In the case of a lubricating gearwheel, this can be the tooth flank of an open gearbox, the drive pinion of a gear rack, the gear rack itself or another toothing such as that of a slewing ring. <br>For lubricating gears, the grease is supplied via a central lubrication system such as the X1 or X3 lubricator; for chain lubricating pinions or lubricating rollers that are operated with oil, a chain lubricator such as the DEK metering oiler or the large PIP.P oil lubricator is suitable. <br>Universal axles have been developed to make it easy to attach a lubricating gear via a mounting bracket, for example. Two designs have proven themselves:  <\/p><p><strong>Straight design:<\/strong><\/p><p>In this design, the actual cylindrical axle running surface is extended by a hollow threaded rod. The lubricant (lubricating grease or lubricating oil) is fed through this hollow threaded rod via an internal threaded connection to the cross holes in the axle tread, where it passes into the lubricating pinion, lubricating gear or a lubricating roller. <\/p><p>Dimensions up to gear width 45 mm: Male axle thread M10; medium connection M6, axle diameter \u00d812.<br>Dimensions from gear width 50 mm: Male axle thread M16; medium connection M10x1, axle diameter \u00d820.<\/p><p><strong>Angled design:<\/strong><\/p><p>The angled design is fitted with a hexagonal block (width across flats 22) instead of a hollow drilled threaded rod. This is provided with a threaded hole on the side for introducing the lubricant, which opens into an axial hole and thus also allows the medium to reach the axle tread. The lubricant feed is therefore arranged at a 90\u00b0 angle to the axle running surface, which explains the name &#8220;angled&#8221;. However, axle variants A and B are designed with a circumferential groove in the axle running surface. This groove is absolutely essential if the axle is to be used for felt gear wheels.
